Perhaps Not

Back during my Dad’s Army days, his unit wasn’t busy, so they put him on courier duty, which in of itself is an uneventful occupation.  However, the jeep they assigned him had a history.  The 3 prior drivers of it were all killed, the jeep was full of bullet holes and drove sideways down the road.  So I guess not an entirely uneventful occupation after all.  Lucky for him, he wasn’t number four.

Foreign Rath

Before the spouse and I embarked on raising a family, we took a trip to Ireland to do the Irish things one does there and to look up where her parents came from.  So we started out on a traditional guided bus tour with people from all over the world.  We were about an hour into the planned trip when the guide got a call and we had to wait a couple of hours for a fellow traveler to catch up to the bus since they missed the original departure.  Well ok, this person being in a foreign country probably got confused or lost so no big deal.  That’s not what it turned out to be though.  Rather it was a local person, who actually lived in the departure city and thought the bus would wait for her to get there, we didn’t.

She later complained that she had a lousy trip because everyone else on the trip was mad at her, well duh.  We all traveled thousands of miles for this vacation and were on time.  She only had to travel a few miles and couldn’t get there the same as us.  So to say the rest of her traveling companions being resentful of her lack of consideration; might have played into how she was treated.

What Next?

The only issue I have with advice on how to eat better and live longer is this:  what is considered good for you today by the “experts” will probably kill you tomorrow.  I have a little problem with all the contradictions.  So I live as I live, we’ll see what happens at my Cabin In The Woods.

Instant Karma

I was at a graduation for one of my children the other day and they were having everyone enter the auditorium in a certain way.  One A**hole thought he was special and even when they told him not to go around that way, his response was, “coming thru”.  Well he tripped and fell so hard on his a** that one of his shoes went flying.  Everyone laughed at this idiot, for there was a reason they didn’t want anyone to go that way, there’s a tripping hazard.

A What?

My youngest was trying to reach one of their youth leaders by phone the other day.  However it just rang and no one picked up, so they decided to text them.  But each text came back as undeliverable.  Confused, they texted me and I asked what number they were trying to contact.  It turns out it was the individuals land line, remember those, they didn’t.

Live Fourth Year

My blog has been live for four years now and still no one has really noticed it.  So in the existence of a Would Be Hermit, all continues on its proper course.  I haven’t even amassed 750 visits yet, which is great!  But I do have over 2000 Posts and over a 100,000 word count, so I have nothing to say I guess.  Thou I do get a lot hits from China?  That just leads me wonder what their searching for that brings them to me?  So I’m hoping for more of the same over the next year.

Still

I saw a product that stated it was “More Natural”, than what?  A pile of sh*t can be considered “More Natural”, but it’s still sh*t.  Plus there are plenty of things in nature that can kill you.  So a product simply being natural is kind of irrelevant, no matter how much more it is.

Never Hade

At one point I was cleaning a health spa for extra money.  I was there a while when they hired a new personal trainer that I had happened to have gone to high school with.  Back in high school he probably considered himself higher on the pecking order than me, and since he was at the bottom here, he thought he could boss me around.  Well no, problem was, I didn’t work for this health spa, but rather an outside contractor.  They were real surprised when their boss yelled at them, because my boss yelled at their boss, for him interfering with my work.  He discovered that his perceived status in high school didn’t matter to me then, nor did he have it now or ever.

Really?

Back in college I volunteered for the schools EMS since I was there anyway.  At one point we needed gauze, so we put the request through the schools purchasing department and they put it out to bid.  When we received the winning bids supply of gauze, it was not white, but flesh color.  It looked like we were using dirty gauze.  I think that supplier just dumped it on the school, since who else would ever buy it?
