I know my oldest really left the nest a long time ago; they have always been an independent soul.  Well they left to go to Asia for 3 months and are pretty much doing it alone.  As a parent, I understand on an intellectual level that they would leave, but on an emotional level I’m devastated.  I just want them where I can get to them if they need help and now I can’t, this really sucks.
