Significant Loss #2

7/20/15

Continuing on the topic of handling terrible loss, how would you handle this unfortunately sad but true situation? Recently in my hometown a family of four was heading home in their car. Unknown to them, there were 2 drunks coming up from behind and they were racing. One of the drunks rear ended the families car with such force that the car exploded into flames. The mother was able to get out of the car but her 4 & 8 year olds were trapped along with their father in the burning car. The mother tried desperately to save them but couldn’t. She had to listen to their screams for help and most likely screams for mommy, as they were burnt alive in front of her eyes, followed by the silence of death. How does one even begin to deal with this kind of loss? Especially when you just watched your whole family die and were helpless to save them? No one in the world is going to be able to comfort this mother and it’ll be a long time before she’ll even be in a place that anyone can even help her. She was quoted as saying, “All I want is my family back!” I know I’d not be able to handle this, since living without my family doesn’t appear to be a life I could endure!

On a side note, the drunks all loaded up into the second car and took off, they never even tried to help, and they had to have heard the screams of the people they were killing!
